In this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favorite journal prompt ideas I’ve used recently. Add these page ideas to your bullet journal, art journal, or anywhere you’re looking to fill a blank page! Many of these ideas can be used over and over.
Gratitude Journal
Journaling about gratitude is one of my favorite practices. You can make the page more interesting than a basic list by doodling each item, or practice fancy hand lettering in a different style for each one.
Acrostic Art
Inspired by acrostic poems, draw out the letters in your name and pair each letter with a word or phrase to describe yourself, your day, or your current mood. Include your last name, too, for more of a challenge.
Junk Journal
Junk journaling is a huge trend and I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Initially, I didn’t really get it, but this trend has really grown on me. These type of pages are a great landing place for all of the little bits and pieces of ephemera that you really don’t have another place for, but you’d like to keep.
Plan or Brainstorm a Project
My journal has been a really helpful place for planning room makeovers, home organization, and DIY projects. If you can’t think of a project that you need to plan in a visual way, you can brainstorm an imaginary one, like a dream house or dream workspace.
What’s Outside Your Window?
Draw, write, or photograph what’s currently outside your window. Even better: go outside and take a look in person!
Playlist Challenge
This is a fun bucket list style page. I love to make a list of music that I liked but haven’t listened to lately. You could also do this with books or movies, and give yourself a seasonal challenge to check off the entire list.
How to Journal Page
My favorite idea is to create your own “how to journal” page full of prompts customized to you! Include all of the things your regularly want and need to write down, as well as prompts to stretch your creativity.
