I’ve just been dying to share my pocket planner setup, and I finally have a moment to sit down and tell you all about it! I’ll also share all about my new planner from Gillio Firenze and how I’m liking it so far.
The ring bound pocket size planner I’m using is a Compagna in Pocket XL, by Gillio Firenze. The contents are a mix of Filofax, printables from https://peanutsplannerco.com, printables from https://shopsmplans.com, my printable planner inserts, and some of my own DIY’s!
Let me take you through the sections of my planner because that’ll illustrate what kind of things I keep in my planner and what I use this little notebook for.
Wellness
I decided to put this section first to make it more of a focus in my planning. This section contains health trackers, a health log, and a reading log, and I’ll periodically add fun inserts like sudoku puzzles. It’s a section just for me!
The inserts I spend the most time in are my gratitude and affirmations logs. I try to fill these in as often as possible. I got the idea from Sierra of https://shopsmplans.com and I use her gratitude and affirmation inserts. I have found it to be super helpful to focus on the good things that are happening in my life, as well as using the affirmation pages to reframe some of the difficult times of life into positive statements. I also write prayers in this section, which has been a powerful practice.
The Plan
This section contains my calendar and to-do lists. I designed my own yearly overview insert (grab the annual calendar & holidays freebie here) and I use Peanuts Planner Co. monthly calendar.
Perhaps the most important insert I use is my goal planner! This is where I keep my annual goals, and record my accomplishments in a monthly overview.
I also use Filofax week on two pages inserts. To be honest, I don’t love the layout of them but I struggle when I don’t use them. I’ll keep experimenting to see if I can find a better weekly system, but the majority of my planning happens on lined Filofax paper I’m using as a daily planner. I like to stamp the date at the top and then just create a bullet journal style list.
Virgo and Paper
I like to keep a small but mighty section for important information about my work. Here I keep a couple pages of reference information that I use as I design, as well as the content that I have posted throughout the current year. I also keep a few pages of notes.
Home
This section is quickly becoming a large part of my planning. Here I have projects I want to work on for my house, such as decluttering. I also have a brief finance section, where I track online orders and bills as I pay them. Finally, I have a brief family section where I keep health logs and some of my favorite photos, to personalize my planner!
A Review of My Gillio Compagna in Pocket XL
I started out with a pocket-size Filofax Saffiano, which is an affordable option. I found mine for around $25, so it was an accessible way to try out pocket size.
After making sure that the size and format worked for me, I decided to invest in something that suited me a little better. After agonizing over the options at Gillio, I settled on a pocket XL size Compagna in their Toscana leather and gold color, with gold Krause rings inside. XL simply means the rings are 20mm, the binder is slightly wider to accommodate the larger rings, and it comes with a leather flyleaf (which I am not currently using to leave more space for inserts).
Gillio leathers vary between pebbly and smooth, so you never know exactly what your binder is going to be like. You can, however, add a note in your order to specify what kind of leather you would like and Gillio will try to accommodate that. For my planner, I asked for a mixture of pebbly and smooth leather and that is exactly what I received. I opted to receive photos of the planner after ordering, and it’s nice that they offer this option so you can see exactly what you’ll receive before shipping.
So far, I am really enjoying this planner! Although slightly larger than a typical pocket planner, it is still very portable. I am really enjoying the Toscana leather. It seems durable, yet has that soft and “squishy” feeling you’ll find with Gillio’s Epoca leather.
So, that concludes my planner set-up and my thoughts on this planner so far. I hope you enjoyed the post! Let me know in the comments below: What information do you keep in your ring-bound planner?
